Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate both verbally and non-verbally (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes).

NLP Therapy is a goal-orientated and practical therapeutic approach to solving problems or difficulties.   It helps you focus on the change that you want and the outcome you desire…. the life that you want to achieve.    NLP Therapy concentrates on the solution rather than the problem.

During NLP Therapy, you will be in control and each session together with the overall therapeutic direction will be determined by the desired outcomes as set by you.   It may be that you have an overall desired outcome that forms the focus for the therapy, with individual outcomes for each session.   As these outcomes can shift during the process of therapy, nothing can be assumed until the start of each session.

What does the Therapy involve? 

At the first session, the therapist will take time to clarify your presenting problem and your goals.  From this point on the therapist will act like an explorer, not knowing how each session is going to emerge.  Instead we take as our starting point the belief that the you, the client, already has the answers and solutions within your own system – and our job is to reveal them and collaboratively put them to use.  Our skills lie in our ability to enable you to discover the inner structure that is generating the presenting problem, so that you can then have a clear idea of what restructuring would serve them better.

NLP therapy uses a range of approaches to deal with a variety of situations and problems and it recognises that each client has unique characteristics and individual views.  It uses the skills of the therapist to utilise the most suitable approach or intervention that will bring about a true and lasting change to help you to achieve your potential and create the life you seek.

Many of our therapists are also trained in other therapeutic methods – Hypnotherapy, Transactional Analysis, Solution Focused, Emotional Freedom Technique, for example. So you may find yourself experiencing an integration of approaches.

Our ability to working incisively with language means that our therapists can quickly get to the source of the problem, without dwelling too much on peripheral history. Our highly interactive approach aligns us with the Brief Therapy movement, but not at the expense of thoroughness. 

All sessions are conducted in a relaxed informal style.

NLP Therapy can be short term (up to 10 hours), medium term or long term depending upon the presenting issue and the desired outcome.  The therapy may be structured or flexible depending on the needs of individual clients.
