Sarah is a qualified Counsellor and Psychotherapist and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
In addition, Sarah is a trauma informed yoga teacher specialising in yoga for anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
It was Sarah’s interest in the nature of being, her passion for authentic connection with people as well as her own healing journey that led her to become a therapist. She has worked with a diversity of people in universities, NHS, corporate, private and charity settings. She works as an integrative psychotherapist in private practice and offers yoga therapy for anxiety and PTSD (groups and 1:1) and teaches yoga (a fusion of sivananda-style, dynamic, vinyasa, yin, restorative and yoga nidra). Her teaching is trauma informed, inclusive, creative and underpinned by yogic philosophy. She loves building community and creating safe spaces for individual and collective transformation
Since 2016 Sarah has worked as a therapist supporting students mainly struggling with anxiety and trauma in a number of prestigious universities across England. Alongside this she set up yoga therapy groups for anxiety and PTSD which were well received. She works in private practice and teaches yoga online and in Newcastle, where she now lives.
Sarah has practiced yoga for her own self-care for more than fifteen years and did her Yoga Teacher Training in 2017 to share the benefits of yoga such as increased self-awareness, compassion and calm – physically and mentally. She has taught in a variety of settings including universities, charity organisations, corporate companies, gyms and yoga studios (in the UK and in Ghana); and hosted more than twenty healing retreats.
Wanting to integrate yoga and therapy as well as learn more about how yoga soothes the nervous system, Sarah completed training in Yoga for Anxiety and PTSD. She subsequently developed and delivers courses, workshops and private classes for anxiety and trauma, educating people about the nervous system and yoga for self-regulation. Sarah has done further trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive and trauma-focused training.
She loves to create spaces for embodied transformation and healing. She is passionate about working with the whole of a person in the room and about exploring the intersections of psychology, philosophy and politics.
Sarah continues to practice and teach various styles of yoga from dynamic to restorative (including Sun Power, Hatha and Yin). She has trained with Hala Khouri and is inspired by the work of Eugene Gendlin, Bessel van Der Kolk, Babette Rothschild, Deb Dana, Gabor Mate and Resmaa Menakem.
