Dr Melanie Lee
Dr Melanie Lee MA (Hons), DClinPsy, CPsychol, AFBPsS is an experienced Clinical Psychologist, being a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society and registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist. She qualified as a Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) Practitioner in early 2017 and now practises this as her main therapeutic model.
Following qualification from the Newcastle Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2008, Mel gained NHS experience working in both GP and hospital settings delivering psychological assessment and therapy, whilst also being continuously involved in teaching, training and supervising others in psychological approaches. Mel has a passion for working psychologically with people living with long-term physical health conditions which has developed into a specialist interest and expertise in pain management, now expanding into private practice.
She has published her doctoral work within the area of therapist learning and development, writing about the crucial role of self-practice and self-reflection within CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Her most recent publication, due to be published Summer 2017 discusses how CAT can be helpfully applied to the management of chronic pain. Trained in a range of different therapeutic modalities, Mel has found the combination of Mindfulness and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) particularly effective in enhancing both psychological and physical well-being and is focused on delivering this message to health professionals and clients alike.
