She aims to create a safe, warm, and welcoming space and believes the relationship between the client and herself is the key to change. ‘Being seen, heard, understood and accepted as is can make the world of difference and ignite confidence, self-trust and self-worth,’ says Sarah.
‘I offer an open and safe space for you to explore your experiences. I listen thoroughly and compassionately. I will be with you ‘in the mess’ and move with you towards more understanding, freedom and acceptance…’
Sarah trained at Regent’s University in London and has worked in diverse settings including offering long term psychodynamic counselling for people in the community of Croydon and short term existential counselling for the NHS in North London. Sarah is committed to continued personal and professional development.
Yoga for Anxiety – One to One Sessions
As a qualified yoga teacher, Sarah works therapeutically with yoga (combining psychoeducation, breathing techniques, mindful movement, mindfulness, meditation and relaxation) in applied ways to alleviate symptoms and help build resilience.
Sessions educate clients about their nervous systems in relation to trauma and anxiety and support individuals to self-regulate, balancing and calming body and mind. Sessions aim to improve self-awareness, reduce habitual patterns of reactivity to physical sensations and problematic thinking styles; and ultimately allow people to properly relax.
There is growing research now in the field of Yoga Therapy showing the effectiveness of somatic practices and mindfulness to reduce stress, depression, and anxiety.
Sarah creates sessions to meet the needs of each client. She has extensive experience of offering yoga for anxiety for university students and has developed programmes specifically to support women who have experienced sexual abuse and/or violence.
