Sally is a qualified and accredited counsellor with significant experience of working one to one with adult clients. They are genuine and authentic with high standards of integrity. They offer authenticity, passion and a very high ethical bar with your safety at the very heart of what they do. With over 10,000 counselling hours under their belt, you’ll be in a very experienced pair of hands. Sally has a keen interest and a massive body of experience in working with trauma, specifically adult survivors of (mostly) childhood sexual abuse and sexual and domestic violence. Through working in this area, they have developed an understanding of, and have sought out additional training in, working with PTSD, dissociation, panic, anxiety, attachment and relationships (amongst other things), which are all things that may come from a range of experiences that may or may not include abuse. These may be things you’re struggling with.
Acceptance is something they struggled with growing up as a lesbian in a rather old-fashioned part of rural Scotland. As their self awareness has grown, they are increasingly identifying as gender non-conforming so they are aware of the crucial role of acceptance in our wellbeing. They have lived experience of intolerance, discrimination and abuse and this informs who they are as a counsellor, although they are much more than this. If this is part of your story, they are very open to working with any aspects of identity you may be wanting to explore.
They work with you, at your pace, to look at what you want to look at. They are led by you and the power and control are yours. They believe you are the expert in your own experience, this is YOUR life and you’ll look at whatever you choose to bring. This may involve a variety of approaches but you’ll navigate these together.
They are also a qualified and experienced clinical supervisor for therapists from a range of modalities and all ranges of experience.
