Kat is a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a member of BACP working with adult individuals.
Kat graduated with a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling and has been working as a therapist in organisational settings, GP surgeries and private practice settings ever since.
Kat’s journey with therapy started in her early teens when her emotional struggles were first noticed at school and she was referred for counselling. From this early personal experience, an interest in the emotional and psychological aspects of human existence developed. Since young adulthood, she was working in various roles involving mainly customer service and leadership. She soon realised that due to her warm and kind nature people tend to feel safe with her, opening up about their experiences and seeking support.
Kat trained in counselling with an integrative approach which combines multiple theories and provides the client with the best support possible. Her training was drawn on humanistic theories based on the Person-Centred approach complemented by Transactional Analysis, Gestalt, Psychodynamic and Existential theories. She believes there is no one approach to fit everybody therefore she tailors sessions to the individual needs of each client.
Being bi-lingual (Polish and English speaking) enables Kat to provide therapy in both languages and she works well with clients from any cultural and social background respecting individual beliefs and values.
Kat is also a trauma informed therapist which includes transgenerational and secondary trauma effects on individuals. Her main interest are relationships, especially significant ones and how they shape our way of being, our relationship with self, the others and the world.
If you are experiencing stress, anxiety, relationship issues or loss, counselling may help. By providing you with safe and confidential space at Jesmond Therapy Centre Kat will assist you on your personal journey.
