Joanna is a fully qualified and BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT), offering face-to-face CBT therapy at Jesmond Therapy Centre.
Joanna has experience supporting adults with a range of mental health difficulties, including depression, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), body dysmorphic disorder, panic disorder, health anxiety and eating disorders.
Before qualifying as a CBT therapist, Joanna worked for a number of years as a Dietitian. Her experience of the close relationship between physical and psychological wellbeing led her to undertake further specialist qualifications in CBT. This combined experience helps inform her understanding of complex mental health difficulties and enables her to provide tailored, client-centred care.
Joanna has eight years of clinical experience within the NHS and also provides private CBT therapy at Jesmond Therapy Centre.
CBT is an active and collaborative form of therapy which focuses primarily on difficulties affecting you in the here and now. It can help you identify unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour, understand how these may be maintaining difficulties, and develop practical strategies to make positive changes.
Joanna understands that seeking support for mental health difficulties can feel challenging, particularly at the beginning of therapy. She aims to provide a safe and supportive space where you can explore your current concerns and work collaboratively towards achievable and realistic goals, with the aim of improving your wellbeing and quality of life.
