Annelise is a Counselling psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council and is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.
As a Counselling psychologist Annelise is an integrative practitioner who draws upon different therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy. Annelise offers psychological therapy to individual adults and children aged 9 plus.
Annelise has extensive experience of working within adult and child / adolescent mental health across a variety of settings including inpatient wards, occupational health, children’s homes, schools, and pupil referral units. Across these settings, Annelise has worked with a broad spectrum of mental health difficulties including trauma and attachment related issues; bereavement and complex grief; suicidal ideation; obsessive compulsive disorder; sleep problems; stress; intrapersonal and interpersonal conflict; anxiety and depression.
The therapeutic relationship is at the core of Annelise’s practice. Annelise will provide you with a compassionate and empowering relationship in which you will feel listened too, safe, understood and supported with whatever difficulties you are experiencing. Your therapeutic relationship with Annelise will be one of collaboration, working together to identify your goals for therapy and the ways in which you can make the changes you need to achieve a value-led life. Whatever it is that has led you to consider therapy, Annelise will support you to process your experiences and how you are feeling, helping you to learn coping strategies and empower you to gain new perspectives. The core therapeutic modalities from which Annelise works include cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and person-centred therapy. During the course of her doctoral training, Annelise also developed knowledge and skills additional therapeutic approaches including compassion focused therapy; mindfulness; and acceptance and commitment therapy. As an integrative-relational practitioner, Annelise is able to combine several therapeutic modalities to tailor therapy to your individual needs, offering short term or longer-term therapy.
Annelise has a strong interest in ecopsychology and the benefits of spending time in the natural world to enhance psychological wellbeing. In addition to attending sessions within the Jesmond Therapy Centre, Annelise is also able to offer walking and talking therapeutic sessions within the leafy green surroundings of Jesmond
