Jesmond Therapy Centre Policy

Last Updated: December 2022

Jesmond Therapy Centre is a private organisation providing talking therapy services to those who need them. All our therapists are independent and work on a self-employed basis. The role of Jesmond Therapy Centre is to liaise between you and our therapists to engage their services on your behalf to provide the most relevant talking therapy to you.

At Jesmond Therapy Centre we understand the importance of knowing your therapist is trained (qualified) and experienced – which is why we have an approvals policy in place that must be met by each therapist in order for that therapist to be permitted to work out of Jesmond Therapy Centre and provide their services to you.

Professional Bodies, Qualifications & Insurance

We will check that the independent therapist is personally registered as a member of a relevant professional body. A number of professional bodies currently support the therapeutic professions, which ensures that good standards of practice and ethical conduct are upheld.

Belonging to a professional body shows that a therapist has met the organisation’s criteria in terms of training or experience, and also means that they have pledged to abide by the organisation’s code of ethics/conduct.

This is why we check that each therapist is registered with an overseeing professional body before we will offer their services out of Jesmond Therapy Centre. This process was designed to assure you that any therapist is capable and working to high standards, is bound by a code of ethics and is accountable to the organisation’s complaints procedure. For this reason, therapists registered with Jesmond Therapy Centre are obliged to provide us with evidence of professional body membership, evidence of their qualifications and professional indemnity insurance prior to working out of Jesmond Therapy Centre, and to let us know if it should be compromised in any way.

Whichever practitioner you opt to see, please make sure that you ask for confirmation of their up-to-date professional ethical body membership(s) and professional insurance – as well as evidence of any relevant qualifications – at your first session, to check for accuracy as we generally monitor changes on a bi-annual basis.

Complaints

We hope that your time at Jesmond Therapy Centre is a positive experience.

Should you ever have any issues with the service that you receive from your independent therapist, please let your therapist know directly. If you have a query about the room for your sessions, our client referral service or our administrative service, you can raise your issues with Jesmond Therapy Centre who will endeavour to address your concerns.

If you are not happy that the issue has been resolved fully by your therapist, the next step would be to raise a complaint with your therapist’s professional ethical body (which includes BACP, BABCP, UKCP, HCPC, BPS etc).

Please note that all therapists at Jesmond Therapy Centre are independent practitioners. Whilst we take all reasonable steps to ensure that our therapists are working to the highest of professional & ethical standards, we cannot be held responsible for their actions. Any complaints or law suits in relation to the therapy that you have received from your therapist must therefore be taken up directly with the therapist in question in the first instance.

In accepting our terms & conditions and proceeding with your first appointment, you permanently agree to release and indemnify Jesmond Therapy Centre from all suits, law suits, claims and actions originating from the talking therapies provided by your therapist out of Jesmond Therapy Centre.
