two women engaging in supervision for counsellors to support quality practice

Supervision for Counsellors, CBT Therapists, Counselling Psychologists and Trainees

Supervision is a formal arrangement for Counsellors, Psychologists and CBT Therapists to work regularly with someone who is experienced in both Counselling / CBT and supervision. Supervision is essential to ensure high standards of professional practice, and our supportive and structured approach enables practitioners to monitor and review the quality of their work as well as their client’s progress.

We offer supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors, counselling psychologists and CBT practitioners. Our supervisors all hold a recognised supervision qualification which they have undertaken at reputable training organisations.

Supervision is essential for effective therapy and operates under the BACP ethical framework.

What does Supervision involve?

We have been providing supervision for Counsellors, CBT Therapists, Counselling Psychologists and Trainee Therapists for several years. Our Supervisors are all highly qualified and have considerable experience of supervision in a variety of contexts including private practice, primary care, educational institutions, voluntary and charitable organisations. We offer supervision from the following theoretical orientations:

  • Person Centred
  • Cognitive Behavioural (CBT)
  • Psychodynamic
  • Integrative

Supervision helps supervisees to develop confidence and widen their experience and we therefore place a strong emphasis on developing a good working relationship based on trust, respect, openness and honesty, so that a supervisee feels safe and comfortable to bring any issues to the sessions.

We strive to be flexible and accessible and give supervisees time and space to explore their practice. We try to actively encourage supervisees to develop their own ‘internal supervisor’ when working with the different issues and ethical dilemmas which clients bring to their sessions.

What are the Benefits?

Jesmond Therapy Centre has a very special philosophy – with the main focus being about individual needs and helping you find the best way forward with your clients.

Supervision at Jesmond Therapy Centre provides a chance for supervisees to discuss their work in a confidential and professional environment in discreet and quiet surroundings. Supervisees will find that they are supported, validated and challenged; provided with an opportunity to learn new skills and supported in formulating new treatment plans and strategies.
