I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and EMDR therapist, with experience of working with cognitive behavioural therapy, transaction analysis, and solution focused therapy, among other therapeutic approaches. I keep person-centred counselling at the core of my therapeutic approach and believe in using many different methods. This allows me to build a therapeutic relationship tailored to the needs of the individual.
I am a warm, grounded person that works in a professional and ethical manner. I offer a space to explore your difficulties in a safe, respectful way, working at the pace that is right for you. Sometimes our current life and past can leave us feeling low and anxious and not knowing what we would like to do or change. Counselling can allow us the space to explore and understand ourselves so that we can find the strength and clarity to decide what is best for us.
I have been working as a counsellor since 2011, working with people individually in short term and long term therapy, who are experiencing a wide range of issues. I believe passionately in offering people the warmth and acceptance needed in a counselling relationship to explore the many issues we find difficult in todays busy life. Having experienced personal therapy myself I understand the huge difference it can make.
I also specialise my work using EMDR therapy, which helps to reduce the distress of past trauma. This is a proven, incredibly effective form of therapy. EMDR is recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Evidence (NICE) as the treatment of choice for PTSD and related problems derived from particularly challenging life events.
Areas of therapy I deal with are depression, anxiety, worry, lack of motivation, panic, social anxiety, issues with sleep, eating disorders, relationship issues, trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, abuse, grief and loss, anger, low self esteem, confidence and many other types of difficulties we experience.
