EMDR Masterclass Review

A sneak peek into our EMDR Masterclass 2016…

with special thanks to Dr Michael Patterson OBE

Our EMDR Masterclass, on Saturday 23rd April 2016, was the largest event held by Jesmond Therapy Centre to date.

Held in CastleGate conference centre’s Turbine Hall, the venue offered space for a large number of specialist EMDR Practitioners to attend the course: A Masterclass on Healing Complex Trauma and Dissociation with Ego State Therapy and EMDR – Presented by Dr Michael C. Paterson OBE.

The workshop aimed to provide an overview of dissociation and how it impacts on EMDR processing, including an explanation of Ego State Therapy (EST) and how it fits with EMDR to provide the stabilization clients need, as well as dealing with blocked processing.  Versions of this workshop were delivered pre-conference for ESTD in 2010 and EMDR Europe in 2014, both highly acclaimed by attendees.

Feedback from the course was overwhelmingly positive and delegates reported that they gained some valuable knowledge and resources to add to their EMDR practice toolkit.    The Masterclass was delivered by Michael Paterson who engaged delegates with his confident and relaxed style adding touches of humour where appropriate.   Michael was approachable and invited questions from the floor which helped with delegates own case work.

A great lunch was supplied by Jaspers and I think those on special diets all enjoyed the efforts made to create a varied and interesting lunch.

About the Trainer…

Well known to most EMDR Practitioners, Dr Michael Paterson is a Clinical Psychologist based in Belfast specialising in the treatment of multiply traumatised people. It was largely based on his clinical work with EMDR that he was awarded the OBE in 2008 for Services to Healthcare in Northern Ireland.

Since then, Michael has played an integral role in the recommendation of EMDR as a treatment for PTSD in adults, and is a past President of the EMDR Association of UK & Ireland.
